Til Gilbert fra mor

Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis’ personlige film til sin søn om hans kræftsygdom. Anne-Grethe filmer sin 8-årige søn, akkurat som andre familier filmer deres børn. Men da Gilbert bliver syg skifter optagelserne karakter. Ved at insistere på, at Gilbert en dag skal kunne se tilbage på en lang og livstruende periode i sit liv, fortsætter Anne-Grethe med at filme ham og hans nærmestes forsøg på at takle sygdommen. Livet er sat på stand by, men det skal stadig leves med kærlighed, livsgnist og tro på at Gilbert bliver rask igen. Dansk dokumentar fra 2021.

SOUND WORK

Thomas Perez-Pape worked with Supervising Sound Designer Peter Albrechtsen on creating a gritty but engaging and dramatic soundscape for this “shot on a mobile” documentary. Because all the footage was recorded with a mobile phone, the soundscape needed to both have a low-fi quality to it that made it believable, but also feature the signature dramatic sound design we give all our films. To achieve this we had a lot of sound effects and ambiences recorded with mobile phones, to combine with the “clean” sounds we normally use for making cinematic soundscapes.

Working directly with sound designer Peter Albrechtsen, Thomas Perez-Pape edited sound effects and backgrounds for all the scenes in the film.

Using mobile phones, Thomas Perez-Pape and Martin Wrang recorded an extensive sound library for this film. Using traditional and undercover field recording methods, we gathered sounds from all over Denmark and Copenhagen to elevate and the original recordings from Anne-Grethe Bjarup Riis footage.

We also recorded a lot of noise and futz, to make the sound design more gritty and rough in places, because the original recordings were somtimes surprisingly clean.
